The 1:87 scale diorama depicts battlefields and scenes of the U.S. military during the Vietnam War. The ground war began in 1965 with the United States supporting the South Vietnamese government against the North Vietnamese regular troops and the Vietcong and ended ten years later with the fall of Saigon.

The war years were characterized by fighting in a harsh rural environment with lush vegetation, a hot and humid climate and a structure of villages that provided ideal conditions for guerrilla warfare.

Scenes that are reproduced include a typical U.S. Army Fire Base VN, a supply transshipment point, a communications unit and a medevac area.
